Tour - Cedar Valley Maker

Tech 1, Techworks Campus – Waterloo, IA

SME’s Waterloo Chapter 186 would like to invite you to its May meeting where we’ll be touring Cedar Valley Makers in the Techworks Campus, followed by a series of special presentations at the John Deere Tractor and Engine Museum right next door.

The Cedar Valley Maker is housed in 5,500 sq ft of newly redeveloped industrial space on the third floor of the Techworks Campus Tech 1 building. Tooling and equipment includes woodworking, metal fabrication, digital fabrication, 3D printing, electronics work space and more, with additional classroom and common space available for workshops and special events.

The guest speakers will cover a range of topics, including:

- The history of the Cedar Valley Makerspace and what it means to the Cedar Valley.
- What are the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) opportunities in and around the Cedar Valley and how can we attract younger talent into STEM fields?
- Learn how SME Chapter 186 is performing outreach to foster better relationships with organizations in its local community.
- Manufacturing professionals can give back. See and hear how you can make an impact in the Cedar Valley.
