SME Chapter 186's December meeting with be a tour at Kryton Engineered Metals, Inc., followed by meal at Gilmore's Pub.

Kryton Engineered Metals started life as Iowa Metal Spinners. Kevin Harberts founded the company in 1981. Kryton started as a metal spinning company but over time, became a full-service fabrication company. In 2011, in order to highlight this change, the name of the company was changed to Kryton Engineered Metals. The company continues to grow their abilities to match the needs of their customers. Kryton currently offers metal spinning, laser cutting, 5 axis laser cutting, brake forming, MIG & TIG welding, spot welding (including resistance weld nuts), polishing, and plate rolling (shapes and cylinders). Kryton is currently working to add automation processes to enhance productivity; the newest additions being a robotic welder and a stack-fed plate rolling cell.
