Tour of Catamount Recording Studio

DATE CORRECTION - SEE BELOW.

SME 186’s monthly meeting will be a tour of the Catamount Recording Studio in Cedar Falls. Our tour will be hosted by Kitty and Tom Tatman. Kitty is the Studio Manager and Tom is the Co-Founder, Producer and Chief Engineer.

Catamount Recording Studio was designed by Carl Yanchar of Wave-Space and built from the ground up in 2002. The studio is anchored by a Solid State Logic 4048E/G+ console with Total Recall. Catamount specializes in album production, with more than 300 releases to date. Record company clients: Roadrunner, Sire/Warner, Columbia, SubPop, Grass/BMG, Shrapnel/Relativity, Word, Link/Hollywood, Time/Warner, Simon & Schuster, and many others.

Since Tom Tatman and Rick Bisby opened Catamount Recording Studio in 1979, Catamount has been Iowa’s premier recording studio. The new Catamount facility in the Cedar Falls Industrial Park contains 4000 sq. ft. of world class studio space as well as a large assortment of instruments, recording technology and mixing equipment.

Tom will be giving us a tour of the two recording studios and their control rooms. We will have the opportunity to see the equipment used to produce the recording masters and learn how the technology used in the recording industry has changed over the years.
