Tour: Emerson-Fisher Controls Marshalltown
Fisher Controls Marshalltown machines, welds, tests, and assembles custom valves for oil, natural gas, pulp and paper, food, and the nuclear industries. The product ranges from 1in pipe size to 8 foot pipe size with some assembled valves being over 10 feet tall. The plant has around 500 employees and nearly 9 acres of floor space. Under that roof is a vertical lathe with 108” chuck, a 5-axis milling machine, two large boring machines, a CMM with a measuring envelope of 3X1.5X1.5 meters, hydraulic testing presses, cryogenic testing equipment, two EDMS, and a 5X6X12 foot furnace among many other things.
Attendees, please be advised to wear long pants, (No Capri pants or shorts), full heel shoes, (No sandals, high heel shoes). No ties, scarfs, nock necklaces or rings or watches on fingers and hands. The tour is about an hour so wear something that you are going to be comfortable walking around in an hour. If people have steel/composite toed shoes wear those.
